Sesame Seed Baked Tofu

Ingredients

- 300 g firm tofu
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons soya sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, roasted
- 1 green onion, minced
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350f.
- 2 cut tofu into 6 or 8 slices.
- 3 place in a square pan in a single layer.
- 4 in a small saucepan, combine water, soya sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and corn starch.
- 5 bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
- 6 while stirring, add oil.
- 7 pour onto tofu.
- 8 marinate 15 minutes (if prepared in advance, refrigerate overnight and rotate tofu occasionally).
- 9 bake approximately 25 minutes or until tofu has a glazed look.
- 10 garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
- 11 *1 portion = 3 slices and represents 2 portions of meat & substitutes.
