Green Tomato Pie

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 4 cups tomatoes
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 5 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Recipe

  • 1 make crust for 9-inch pie. core green tomatoes and cut into thin wedges, as you do for apple pie. mix together dry ingredients.
  • 2 stir in lemon juice and tomatoes until tomatoes are coated.
  • 3 fill pie crust and add top crust. flute edge and slit top 4 or 5 times.
  • 4 bake 30 minutes at 425 degrees.
  • 5 reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake another 20 minutes.
  • 6 tastes like mincemeat pie.
