Pot Roast With Wine

Total Time: 2 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 lbs pot roast
  • 1 lb small onion
  • 1/4 lb small mushroom
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • oil (for frying)

Recipe

  • 1 heat the oil in a large pot and brown the meat all over.
  • 2 remove the meat.
  • 3 add onions and mushrooms to pot and saute.
  • 4 return meat to pot.
  • 5 add the tomatoes, water, wine, mixed herbs, sugar, salt and pepper.
  • 6 cook until tender, approximately 2 hours.
  • 7 let the meat rest for 10 minutes before carving and serve the pot juices alongside the slices of beef.
