Plain Dumplings (spatzen)

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water or 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Recipe

  • 1 beat egg well, add salt and water or milk and stir this into the flour until a smooth batter is formed.
  • 2 drop by spoonfuls into boiling, salted water and let cook 15 minutes.
  • 3 drain in a colander.
  • 4 pour hot fat or meat gravy over them and serve.
  • 5 garnish with fried onions, cracker crumbs, or any desired dressing.
