Sauerkraut Hotdish

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb bacon, cut-up
- 1 (16 ounce) can sauerkraut, drained
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 cups mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup water
- seasoned salt & pepper, to taste
- 2 -3 tablespoons butter
Recipe
- 1 place sauerkraut in a collander & rinse well -- set aside to drain.
- 2 brown the ground beef & bacon together -- drain all but 1 t. fat.
- 3 season the kraut to taste & add to meat mixture.
- 4 add water & cover.
- 5 simmer for 1 hour.
- 6 place in a lightly buttered cassarole dish.
- 7 top with mashed potatoes & dot with butter.
- 8 bake in oven, uncovered for 1/2 hour @ 350°.
