Lasagna

Total Time: 2 hrs 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 3/4 lbs italian sausage
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 16 ounces small curd cottage cheese
  • 16 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 16 ounces mozzarella cheese, grated divided

Recipe

  • 1 brown meat over medium heat until no longer pink; drain.
  • 2 add the the next seven ingredients.
  • 3 simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • 4 in a bowl, combine egg, cottage cheese, ricotta, and parmesan.
  • 5 spread 1 cup of meat sauce in an ungreased 13” x 9” x 2” baking dish.
  • 6 layer with three noodles, provolone cheese, 2 cups cottage cheese mixture, 1 cup mozzarella, three noodles, 2 cups of meat mixture, remaining cottage cheese mixture, and 2 cups mozzarella.
  • 7 top with remaining noodles, meat sauce, and mozzarella (dish will be full).
  • 8 cover and bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes.
  • 9 uncover, bake 20 minutes longer.
  • 10 let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
