Ingredients

- 1 3/4 lbs italian sausage
- 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg
- 16 ounces small curd cottage cheese
- 16 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 16 ounces mozzarella cheese, grated divided
Recipe
- 1 brown meat over medium heat until no longer pink; drain.
- 2 add the the next seven ingredients.
- 3 simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- 4 in a bowl, combine egg, cottage cheese, ricotta, and parmesan.
- 5 spread 1 cup of meat sauce in an ungreased 13” x 9” x 2” baking dish.
- 6 layer with three noodles, provolone cheese, 2 cups cottage cheese mixture, 1 cup mozzarella, three noodles, 2 cups of meat mixture, remaining cottage cheese mixture, and 2 cups mozzarella.
- 7 top with remaining noodles, meat sauce, and mozzarella (dish will be full).
- 8 cover and bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes.
- 9 uncover, bake 20 minutes longer.
- 10 let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
