Savory Beef Stew

Ingredients

- 1/4 cup margarine
- 2 lbs cubed stew meat
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
- 1 cup beer
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 cup chopped carrot
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 4 potatoes, cubed
- 1 can button mushroom
- 1/2 cup water
- pepper
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 in a dutch oven over medium heat, melt margarine.
- 3 cook beef in two batches until browned, stirring often.
- 4 remove beef from dutch oven and set aside.
- 5 stir in flour.
- 6 add broth, beer, water, onion, garlic, brown sugar, thyme and pepper.
- 7 heat to boil.
- 8 return beef to dish and add potatoes, carrots, celery and mushrooms, stir well to coat.
- 9 cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or until done.
