Sauerbraten Meatballs

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3/4 cup soft breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash pepper
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup gingersnap crumbs

Recipe

  • 1 combine beef, bread crumbs, onions, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix well.
  • 2 shape into 1 inch balls and fry till browned in lightly greased pan.
  • 3 remove meatballs and keep warm.
  • 4 add 2 1/4 cups water to drippings in pan, bring to boil.
  • 5 stir in bouillon cubes, sugar, lemon juice and gingersnap crumbs.
  • 6 add meatballs and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • 7 tastes good with wide noodles.
