Slow-cooker Meatloaf Italian-style

Total Time: 4 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 4 hrs

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) can pizza sauce (divided)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/3 cup seasoned dry bread crumb
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Recipe

  • 1 reserve 1/3 cup pizza sauce; cover and refrigerate.
  • 2 in a bowl, combine remaining pizza sauce with next 7 ingredients. mix together well.
  • 3 form meat mixture into loaf and place into crockpot. (place 3 intersecting strips of foil in the bottom of the slow-cooker to aid in removing the meatloaf later).
  • 4 cover and cook on low for 8-10 hrs or on high for 4-6 hours (to ensure doneness, insert a meat thermo into centre of loaf; internal temp should read 170°f.).
  • 5 spread loaf with reserved 1/3 cup pizza sauce. sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. cover and let cook for another 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
  • 6 remove meatloaf to serving dish, slice, and enjoy!
